Our Story

We are a family-run, woman-led small business in Manhattan. Since 2014 we’ve tracked down the most delicious, hand-crafted beer from local and international breweries. Over the years our menu has expanded to include sought-after ciders, tasty meads, barleywine, kombucha and more. We also have gluten-free beers! For our friends who choose not to imbibe, our non-alcoholic menu features the absolute best N/A beers we’ve ever tasted.

With 24 rotating taps, there’s always something new to try here! In 2022, we transitioned our food menu to be completely plant-based and vegan-friendly. We’re so excited and proud to be making the kinder, more responsible choice, and our food has never been more delicious!

The First Venture

2014

Our founders Don and Bob, a former FBI agent and opera singer respectively, opened our first pub in lower Manhattan with a love of craft beer and a passion for sharing it with good friends in an intimate setting. Located at 26 West 8 Street in NYC’s famous Greenwich Village, our OG location is the ultimate spot to grab the perfect pint.

 
 

MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS, NYC

The Next Chapter

2016

Less than two years after pouring our first beer, we opened our flagship location in Morningside Heights, home to Columbia University, Barnard College, Manhattan School of Music, Teachers College, and St. John the Divine, the world’s largest gothic cathedral. With greater seating capacity and a much larger kitchen than our original spot, this location has become a hub for locals to relax and enjoy fresh, hand-crafted beer with their friends and colleagues.

The Future

2022

Our mission has always been to provide great craft beer in a relaxing environment built for conversation. In 2022, our founders retired and we welcomed our new owners, husband-and-wife team Colin and Holly, whose desire to keep the spirit of our company alive is matched with their excitement to lead our company into the future. Colin’s years of experience as a successful bar owner in midtown Manhattan’s Theater District makes him the perfect choice as our company’s Chief Officer of Operations. Holly became our CEO and Executive Chef after successfully creating and operating Botanist Vegan Street Food in upstate NY. As a values-led and family-run business, we are driven by the desire to be active participants in a better world through a more sustainable food system, to be thoughtful members of our community, and to be good humans on this planet. Nothing affects change like sharing your passions. And so, in 2023 we launched our 100% vegan food menu that’s inspired by street food and biergartens from around the world.

Shortly after our menu went live, we were nominated for the NYC Circularity Day Champion Award, for our food menu and our efforts towards sustainability. We’re thrilled at our new venture and we can’t wait to take this ride together with you!
