Please join us as we sponsor Columbia Student Sheila Serafino as she runs the NYC Marathon for Back on My Feet. Back on My Feet seeks to revolutionize the way our society approaches homelessness. Our unique running-based model demonstrates that if you first restore confidence, strength and self-esteem, individuals are better equipped to tackle the road ahead and move toward jobs, homes and new lives.
We'll be doing a raffle for a collection of rare and interesting beers, as well as selling Happy Hour Drink Tickets good for any Happy Hour Beverage or $5 off one of our premium beverages. Tickets are $7 each at the door, but can be used all night long! A portion of each sale goes directly to Sheila's goal of raising $3000 for the charity. In addition, some of the owners are matching the amount raised through the Happy Hour and raffle... we're going to get her to her goal. Come and give us a hand!
Sheila Serafino grew up north of Boston, MA, and spent most of her life in the Greater Boston area. She moved to Costa Rica in 2013 for what she thought would be a short volunteer stint, and ended up staying and working for nearly 18 months. Sheila is currently a graduate student at Teachers College and teaches 7th and 8th grade English at the Churchill School. She has been running with Back on My Feet since she moved to New York City in the summer of 2015, and loves how it brings people from all walks of life together. The NYC Marathon will be her fifth marathon--as a lifelong goalie, she has plenty of miles to make up. She's most excited to see all the BoMF'ers (and others') hard work pay off on November 6th!
